I’ve been interested in telling stories about my own anxieties to make other people — more myself — feel less alone. Even if one person feels seen by my work it means my art did what it was supposed to do.

Marissa Mangoni is an experimental video artist based in the Chicago area.

A recent college graduate from Northern Michigan University with a Bachelor of Arts in Digital Cinema and a minor in Multimedia Production. While living in Marquette, Michigan, Marissa worked as a production assistant at a local news station eventually becoming the station’s youngest director. Her passion and love for filmmaking stem from messing around with her parents’ camera as a kid and it grew during all of her film classes in High School. Mangoni directed the experimental short film, The Voicemail, in early 2022, was selected to be included in the GIFT Festival which highlights young female filmmakers. Her dream is to get a solo exhibition in a gallery and is currently working on her body of work as an artist.
